Having witnessed how inaccurate dialogue breaks the audience's belief, I now focus on a clear mission: ensuring linguistic and cultural authenticity in film, TV, and theater. I partner with productions to not only coach actors but also to edit and refine scripts, providing an end-to-end solution for authentic Kurdish dialogue.

Alan Ciwan, Consultant for Authentic Kurdish in Media

"A performance is only as believable as its details. When an actor's speech feels inauthentic to their role, it breaks the viewer's trust and dismantles the world of the story."

Do you work only in person, or can you coach actors online?

I provide my full range of services both in person and online. The majority of my actor coaching and script consultation is conducted via secure video calls, which offers great flexibility and efficiency for busy production schedules. For on-set work during filming in Berlin or nearby regions, I am available in person. This hybrid approach allows me to work seamlessly with international productions.

When in the production process should we bring you on board?

The earlier, the better. My greatest impact is when I'm involved from the script stage. This allows me to ensure the Kurdish dialogue is authentic and actable from the very foundation. However, I can be brought in at any point—whether for pre-production coaching, last-minute script fixes, or on-set support. My process is tailored to your timeline.

How do you work with actors who have no knowledge of Kurdish?

This is my specialty. I break down the language into manageable, actable components. I focus on authentic pronunciation, emotional delivery, and the musicality of the lines, rather than teaching the language itself. I provide custom audio guides and phonetic notes, turning a potential obstacle into a confident performance. My background as an actor allows me to explain things in a way they instinctively understand.

What is your background that qualifies you for this specific work?

I bring a unique combination of three professional backgrounds: 1) A Kurdish theater actor and director for over 20 years, understanding performance from within; 2) A translator and script editor, ensuring linguistic and cultural accuracy on the page; and 3) A former dubbing director, knowing how to achieve authentic results under production pressures. This triad of skills is what allows me to solve the complete problem of inauthentic dialogue.
